Esteem

Sex and the Law Workshop

Yesterday, the two lead Police Youth Engagement Officers for Cheshire, PC Amy Fletcher and PC Jane Commins, led an interactive workshop for acet UK, about ‘Sex and the Law.’

As relationships and sex educators, we are regularly asked questions like “Is it illegal if…?”; “Would someone get in trouble for…?” or - most difficult to answer - “What would the police actually do in reality if…?” This workshop helped delegates answer these questions with confidence and authority.

Esteem Boys' Project training

We recently ran our first batch of training for our Esteem Network members in London and in Manchester, which was developed to give educators the confidence and skills necessary to deliver the Esteem Boys' Project in their own contexts.

The training takes educators through the content of the project session by session and includes tips on facilitation skills when working with hard-to-reach boys. We received excellent feedback from participants on both of our training days.

Some of their comments were as follows:

Online and offline behaviours: the impact of porn on young people

I recently led some training for Romance Academy about the impact of porn on young people and the potential ways we can help young people navigate these pressures. It was a great training day where everyone got to closely examine the theories of how porn is impacting young people. One of the key ideas we explored is best summed up by a psychiatrist Elias Aboujaoude in his book '_Virtually You'

Resources

One of things that our members have most appreciated about being part of the Esteem network is access to our resources. We are continually working on the development of new resources, gathering input from young people throughout the development process and piloting the resources before distributing amongst our network.

Our standard Esteem resources are available free to members of our Esteem network. If you are interested in attending an Esteem training course and becoming a member, please contact us.
